Brenda Kathleen O'Malley

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Brenda O'Malley, beloved wife of Gerrit Bisschop of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 73 years. 

Brenda's last job was as an accounts receivable clerk for the County of Rocky View, Alberta. After retiring, she volunteered at the Greater Forest Lawn Senior Center, and The Alex Community Garden. At the Center, she helped at bingo, and in the crafts group where she knitted items for craft sales. Brenda was also involved with the LINKAGES program linking students with seniors. She also volunteered to be a board member at the center. At the Alex, Brenda helped prepare the food and served the guests, and also helped with the Alex garden. Brenda was an avid knitter with a knitting needle collection that any other knitter would be jealous of. Brenda loved to meet people, she would talk to anyone while standing in a line at the store ,bank or anywhere in public. Her great number of friends all say that she gave the best hugs. Brenda will be missed by all. 

Besides her loving husband Gerrit, Brenda is survived by her children Wade and Aurora Rafacz of Cochrane, Ontario; one grandchild Anakin Rafacz of Cochrane, Ontario; and her siblings Greg O'Malley and his wife Joanne of Cochrane, Ontario, Janet and her husband John McTavish of Calgary, Kelly and her husband Bill Polowy of South Porcupine, Ontario. Brenda is predeceased by her sister Carol in 1957.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Greater Forest Lawn 55+ Society, 3425 - 26 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta. 

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at The Transfiguration Church, 316 - 7 Avenue N, Cochrane, Ontario.
