On Wednesday, July 16, 2025 "Bonnie" Ruth Anne Clemmensen, beloved wife of the late Ove Clemmensen, of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 83 years.
Bonnie was born on Thursday, October 23, 1941, in Sherridon, Manitoba. At a young age, Bonnie relocated to Swan River, Manitoba, where she began to cultivate her zest for life and the connections that would become profoundly important to her. In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bonnie met Ove Clemmensen, and their love story began to unfold when they married in 1959. The couple welcomed two children into their lives, Laura and Murray, forging a family bond that would endure through the years and define much of Bonnie's life.
The family’s journey led them to Toronto, Ontario, where Bonnie balanced the responsibilities of motherhood with her professional ambitions as a bookkeeper. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and she took great pride in nurturing and supporting them as they grew. In 1975, seeking new beginnings and adventures, the family moved to Calgary, Alberta, where Bonnie's spirit continued to flourish.
In Bonnie's spare time, she cherished moments spent camping, curling, and playing horseshoes, all activities that brought joy and laughter to her life. With a remarkable affinity for all kinds of music and a wicked sense of humour, Bonnie had a way of brightening any room she entered.
Throughout her life, Bonnie’s ultimate passion was her family. Their happiness and well-being were at the heart of everything she did. Her legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Bonnie is survived by her two children Laura Bartel and Murray (Alison) Clemmensen both of Calgary; two grandchildren Reece and Kiandra Bartel; two great grandchildren Brianne and Quinn; one brother Dan (Betty) Campbell of Calgary; sister-in-law Verna Campbell of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband of 61 years, Ove Clemmensen, Bonnie is predeceased by her parents Daisy and Kenneth Campbell, and one brother Barry Campbell.
A private family gathering will be held. Cremation will take place at Foothills Crematorium.
If friends so desire, memorials in Bonnie's memory may be made in Bonnie's name to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.
