Bertha 'Bert' Bernice Coates (nee Knoblick)

June 23, 1927 — May 24, 2024

Calgary, Alberta

Bert passed away at the age of 96 in her Calgary home on May 24, 2024.

An avid reader, she will always be remembered for her laughter, sharp wit and humor. Her love of life, determination, independence and success in sports and games has inspired all of us to fill our days with action and enjoyment.

She will be greatly missed by her sons, Dan, Ken and Max Layton; daughter-in-law, Gerri; step daughters, Carrie and Shelley; sisters, Carol (Jack) and Shirley. Bert was predeceased by her husband, Ron; and son, Pat. She proudly leaves behind a loving host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at Pierson's Funeral Home (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) from 6-8 pm on Friday, May 31.
