Barbara Ann Leggett passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 77 years.
Barbara was born on December 15, 1948, in Didsbury, Alberta, to Helen and Sidney Hall. From an early age, she was known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and quiet compassion—qualities that remained with her throughout her life.
Service and sacrifice were part of Barbara’s family story. Her father was a proud veteran of WWII, and her grandfather served during both the Boer War and WWI. This legacy of dedication and resilience helped shape Barbara’s deep sense of loyalty and love.
On February 27, 1971, Barbara married the love of her life, Barry. Guided by love and devotion, Barbara travelled to Cyprus to be with Barry during his military service. They defied odds together and built a life rich in love, partnership, and memories.
Barbara was also an explorer at heart, always seeking adventure, knowledge, and discovery. She contributed to many historical research efforts in Alberta. In 2006, Barb and Barry discovered a 6-seater solar Minoan airplane and in 2017 when she located caves of first humans to arrive in Alberta.
Barbara had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply her comforting presence. She will be especially remembered for the beautiful handmade healing blankets she created—each one crafted with love and given as a lasting expression of her nurturing spirit. 1974.
Faith was an important part of her life, and she found community and comfort at Forest Lawn United Church in southeast Calgary.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Barry; her godson, Lans Lee; her nieces, Shirley Ripley and Colleen (Vince) Ripley; her nephews, Phillip Ripley of Surrey, British Columbia, and Paul M. Leggett (Gayle) of Victoria, British Columbia; and her great-nephew, Curtis.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Gene and Albert. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A service honouring Barb will take place on August 2,2026 at noon at Forest Lawn United Church.
A life so gently lived, and a heart so deeply loved, will never be forgotten
