Arvilla Joan Mysyk
May 24, 1939 — October 28, 2017
Joan Mysyk passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the age of 78 years. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 59 years John Mysyk; their children Cindy Jay (Milton), Andrew Mysyk (Karryn), Martin Mysyk (Mary Lou), Tony Mysyk (Carol-Ann), Cory Mysyk and Jeffrey Mysyk (Andrea); Sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by one brother, six sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Joan was predeceased by a daughter Shelley Kay Mysyk (1962) and two brothers.
Joan was born in Cardston and raised in southern Alberta. After High School, she married her sweetheart John and after living in a number of locations throughout Alberta, they settled in Calgary in 1968. Joan had a variety of interests including athletic pursuits, gardening, shopping, knitting and other homemaking pursuits. She was active in her Church and served in a number of Church assignments, including the Scouting program. She was kind and generous to everyone she knew. Her greatest love was her family who will miss the time and love she spent with each of them.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Pierson’s Funeral Home, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE on Friday, November 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Willow Park Chapel (940 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary) on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 pm in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, AB.
