Ann Veronica Jourdain

Ann Veronica Johnson-Jourdain was born Saturday, January 18,1936, just two months earlier than expected, to Cecil Johnson and Emiline Scott. She grew up in Hampstead, St. Mary, Jamaica where she was raised by her loving grandmother who taught her many things, including how to survive while pulling up her bootstraps. In the 1960’s, Ann mastered the well-known modern day concept of “multiple streams of income”. She was a top performing supervisor and production worker, a hairdresser, a seamstress and an Avon cosmetics representative. In 1972, at the age of 36, she migrated to Canada. Having to leave her children, though temporarily, made life difficult but her tenacity and resilience kept her pushing through life’s school of hard knocks. Ann ran her race and finished her course at 4:30am, Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Ann is survived by her children, Sophia and Hank Walsh; her grandchildren, Jamie-Lee Walsh, Jonathan Walsh, Chance Walsh, Nicholas Walsh, Jerome Rex, Jullius Schochenmaier, Appollo Schochenmaier, Shayana Cesaire; her great grandchildren, Isabella Rose Hardy, Kameron Joseph Walsh, Emery Grace Walsh, Heidi Astoria Walsh and Sitara Rei Castillo Walsh; Vincent McPherson of New York, Marcia Johnson of South Carolina, The McDermott Family from Jamaica and worldwide and Carl and Hyacinth Chin of Kingston, Jamaica. She is pre-deceased by her father, Cecil Johnson, her mother, Emiline Scott, her daughter Baby Girl Walsh, her daughter, Susan Walsh and great grandson, Baby Jacob Eil Saddleback-Walsh.

A Funeral Service will be held for Ann at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:30 am.
