Angelina Paiva was born on July 31, 1932, in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal. She built a life defined by love, resilience, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Angelina married Manuel, and together they had two children: Eduardo (born 1953) and Goretty (born 1958). In the 1970s, Angelina and her family immigrated to Ontario, Canada, where she worked tirelessly, and courageously built a very successful drapery business from scratch-an accomplishment that spoke to her determination, skill, and strong work ethic.
A major turning point in Angelina’s life came when she began studying the Bible with her daughter, who was also studying to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Angelina deeply loved what she was learning and was baptized in 1979. Her faith became a steady source of strength, comfort, and purpose throughout the rest of her life.
In the early 1980s, Angelina’s four beloved grandchildren were born in Ontario and quickly became a bright center of her world. When her daughter moved to Calgary in 1985, Angelina followed soon after, relocating to Calgary as well-because being close to family mattered most.
In 2009, Angelina welcomed her first great-granddaughter, and the bond they shared was truly special. Angelina’s love for her family ran deep. Family meant everything to her. There was nothing she wouldn’t do-no sacrifice too big-if it meant caring for and supporting the people she loved.
Angelina passed away with her family at her side at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
"She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.”
