Angela Marie Fritz

It is with profound sadness, and with hearts overflowing with love, that we announce the sudden passing of Angela Marie Fritz, age 73, of Calgary, Alberta, who passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Angie was many things to many people-daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend-but to those who knew and loved her, she was so much more.

She was kind, deeply loving, thoughtful, bubbly, and uplifting. Angela had a beautiful way of making people feel cared for. She loved to laugh, and perhaps even more than that, she loved making other people laugh, her warmth could brighten a room, and her heart had a way of making people feel at home.

Angela was a woman who worked hard throughout her life, taking on many interesting jobs, always with one purpose close to her heart: caring for people. One of the jobs she treasured most was her 20 years working as a Teacher's Aide with the school board, supporting children in special education. She loved the children, loved the work, and found tremendous meaning in helping others.

But above all else, Angela was a mother and grandmother, and her family was her greatest love. Her ever-beloved grandson Kole held an especially enormous piece of her heart. Their bond was something truly special. She adored him, and anyone who knew Angela knew just how much her Kole meant to her.

Angie also found joy in music, pets, and the tropics. She loved the beauty, warmth, and happiness those things brought into her life. She collected moments of joy wherever she could find them, and she had a gift for giving that joy right back to others.

And then there was Mom. For Melanie, Angie was not simply a mother. She was her person. Her world. Angie always said they were the bopsie twins. They did everything together. They were a team for as long as Melanie can remember- through the good days, the difficult days, the laughter, the tears, and everything life placed in between. Their bond was extraordinarily close, built over a lifetime of love, loyalty, understanding, and shared experiences. Mom was the person Melanie could turn to. Her safe place. Her teammate. Her family. Her home. And right up until the end, they were still inseparable. There are countless memories that will forever bring smiles through the tears - like the unforgettable time at the old folks' home when she learned about bleach by washing her poor patients' clothes and all that came out of her underwear was just the elastic - she was horrified and she mentioned of her guilt to this day. Or the ticklish massage that ended with a couple of giggles that only a mother and daughter could share. Those little moments, the silly ones, the ordinary ones, are often the memories that become the most precious after someone is gone.

Angela chose cremation. Her family will gather at a later date for a Celebration of Life, where those who loved her can come together to remember her, share stories, laugh through their tears, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Although our hearts are broken by her absence, Angie's love does not end here. It lives on in every laugh she inspired. In every act of kindness she taught us, in every song that brings back a memory. In every warm, silly, beautiful moment we wish we could experience just one more time. And most of all, it lives on in her family.

Angela leaves behind her loving family: Her daughters, Nicle Lanzer and Melanie, Her grandchildren, Kole Simoneau, Crystal Lee Perez, Courtney Lanzer, Bailley Lanzer. Her great-grandchildren, including Finn and Olivia Grace; Her brother Lanny Fritz and Yvonne Fritz, and their children, mom's niece Holly and great nephew Oliver and nephew Matthew; Her brother Rod Fritz and Claudette Fritz, and their children, moms niece Ashlee and great nephew Cannon and nephew Adam: Her sister-in-law Carole Fritz, and her niece Michelle and great nephew Thomas and nephew Jordan And the many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by Angie's generous heart. She was predeceased by her parents, John George Fritz and Marcelle Eva Fritz, as well as her brother Tom Fritz.

Mom, you were my best buddy for my whole life. We were a team right until the very end. I don't know how to imagine this world without you in it. How do I say goodbye?

But I do know this: I will carry you with me for the rest of my life.

I love you mom, until we meet again.
