Andrew Nelson Keewatin "White Bear Man"

December 30, 2005 — May 2, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved baby boy, Andrew Nelson Keewatin, better known as Juby. His spiritual given name was White Bear Man. Andrew left on May 2, 2026, at the tender age of twenty. He was born on December 30, 2005, at the Rocky View Hospital in Calgary, Alberta to his proud parents, Terrance Stanley Poorman and Aleisa Joan Keewatin.

He was our special blessing by the Creator. He was deeply loved by his father and mother. Andrew was the youngest of seven children and enjoyed his place as the baby boy in his family. He enjoyed his large family that included being raised with his nieces and nephews since they were in his age range compared to his siblings who were eight years and older than him.

Andrew was an avid music lover and enjoyed a wide range of music genres. As he grew in his later teens, he expressed his favourite songs by singing as loud as he could. He spent many hours developing his voice. Andrew loved meeting new people. He was genius in his matter to really know a person by listening and hearing what they had to say. He took the time to know someone.

Andrew leaves his mother, Aleisa Keewatin and his father George Peyachew, whom he called “Mushum”, like his nieces and nephews. He will be very missed by his siblings, Michelle Keewatin, Natasha Keewatin, Malcolm Peyachew, Letisha Peyachew and Aleander Peyachew. Andrew had a close connection to his Aunty Trina Keewatin and niece Elaine Spotted Eagle, and cousin Jeana Edenshaw, as well as his three older sisters. Andrew loved to antagonize his brothers and would tease them that he was "the Boss" because he was the baby. Andrew is also survived by many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. He used to reminisce about them all the time. They were in his mind daily as he would remember various events or things they did or spoke. He spent many hours laughing and loving life. Andrew was predeceased by his father Terrance Stanley Poorman and his paternal grandparents, Stanley Hughie Bear and Edna Jean Poorman, Uncle Murray Poorman and Aunt Leifa Poorman. He is survived by his Aunty Janet Poorman (Darin) and Uncle Robert Issac, Uncle Robby Epp, and close cousin Jeanne (Derek) Edenshaw.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Michael Keewatin and Aldonna Brass, as well as his Uncle Nelson Keewatin, brother Matthew Keewatin, cousin Michealeen McMaster, and nephew Troy Spotted Eagle. The family invites those who knew him and the family to come and celebrate his life.

A Traditional Feast will follow the services at Crystal Cardinal residence. The address will be shared at the service.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to those that helped. It meant the world to us. We will truly miss our Baby Boy, Andrew (Juby), till we meet again.
