Alphonso Marshall was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, where he spent his early years surrounded by family, community, and the values that would shape the course of his life. From a young age, he was known for his warm spirit, gentle strength, and deep appreciation for the people around him. Those who knew him often spoke of his kindness, humility, and the genuine joy he brought into every room he entered.
In 1974, Alphonso made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada to join his wife Geveta, in pursuit of greater opportunities for their family and future generations. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, he built a life marked by integrity and purpose. He worked in the manufacturing industry for more than four decades, at IKO Industries, earning the respect of colleagues and friends through his strong work ethic, dependability, and quiet determination. After over 40 years of faithful service, he retired from IKO Industries in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and commitment.
Alphonso was also a faithful servant of the Lord. His relationship with God was the foundation of his life, and he remained steadfast in his faith before and throughout his brief illness. On July 13, 2026, Alphonso peacefully entered eternal rest at South Health Campus Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by the love of his family. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the legacy of his faith, love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Alphonso leaves behind his wife, Geveta Marshall, their six children: Dawn Foster, Dona Marshall-Deane (Art Deane), Renston Marshall (Michelle Stella), Dianne Robinson, Dena Mitchell (Carlton Mitchell), and Rayon Marshall, along with twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Alphonso also leaves behind his siblings: Renella Marshall Richards, Cynthia Marshall-Douglas, Gladston (Cecil) Marshall, Levi (Alman) Marshall, Hopeton Marshall, Everol (Henry) Marshall, Verena (Pauline) Marshall-Richards, Rita Marshall-Blake, Albert (Carlie) Marshall. He is predeceased by his brother Donald Harris and his mother and father, Ezekiel and Inez Marshall.
