Albenia Ann Anderson (Nee Speroski)

June 17, 1931 — December 18, 2021

Albenia was born into and grew up on the homestead farm of Frank Speroski in Eckville, Alberta. When still high school age she moved to Calgary for further education and employment. At her sister’s wedding she met a dashing WWII veteran name of Justin Anderson. They fell in love and married in June 1951. Over the next 15 years, they moved back and forth from Calgary to Edmonton as Justin pursued a career in civil engineering and they added three children to their family. Over this period the family was a strong supporter of the Lithuanian community in both cities. Justin’s career brought the family to Prince George in 1966 and Vancouver in 1969. Albenia was a homemaker but she pursued a career once the children got older, most notably in real estate with Macaulay Nicholls Maitland and CMHC. They retired and moved to Kelowna in 1992. But Albenia always called Alberta home, and in 2005 they moved back to Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Justin in 2015, and her sister Jessie Yauga of Kelowna, BC in 2016.

She is survived by her son Donald Charles Anderson of Delta, BC, daughter Deborah Ann Anderson of Leask, SK, son Edward Wayne Anderson of Chestermere, AB, daughter -in-law Astrid Anderson, and grandchildren Carlina Walker (nee Anderson), Valery Anderson and John Anderson.

It was often said that her appearance resembled that of Queen Elizabeth II which accounts for the royal names given to her children.

She was a quiet, reserved woman, but light hearted and loved her children and grandchildren alike. She was a lover of the Arts, music, travel, and the maker of many, many beautiful handicrafts.
