Alan Fenix Valenzuela

September 10, 1946 — October 27, 2025

Calgary, Alberta

Alan Fenix Valenzuela passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 at 79 years of age, surrounded by his family. Those who knew Alan adored his wit and humour. He loved talking to people and always seemed to attract a crowd, making people laugh wherever he went. Alan celebrated 47 years of marriage with his wife Myriam before her passing in 2019. Their 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren were the core of Alan's life: Patsy (Mike), Jessy (Chris, daughter Myla), Jenny (Darren, daughter Abigail), and son Michael. Granddaughter Capricia (children Matias and Mariana).

Alan was born in Chile, South America, immigrating to Calgary in 1977, where he joined his brother Raul and family. Alan is remembered back home by his sister Rosana, nieces, nephews, and many more extended family members and friends. He spent his life working hard to provide for his family and serving at various church communities over the years.

Alan had a passion for creating, whether carving wood, building furniture, or inventing new recipes. He was keen to solve puzzles and repair things, often conjuring up ingenious solutions to solve various problems - evident while he played Dominoes and Chess. Alan loved fishing and camping with his family. He always went out of his way to help others. Even as his health failed, he always made sure his family was taken care of.

Alan was a true survivor. He had countless stories of narrowly escaping death, completely unscathed. He lived up to his middle name, Fenix (The Phoenix), as he survived many ordeals and adventures.

He will be missed. Thank you all for your kind words, condolences, and prayers.
