Ruby Hall Johnston

We are very sad to announce the passing of our Mother and Granny on Tuesday July 28, 2020. She was in her 98th year of life. Granny was born December 31, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Calgary with her husband, George and first child, Sharon in 1946. Granny was a mother to 9 children; grandmother to 20 grandchildren and great grandmother to more than 30 great grandchildren. Granny was predeceased by her husband, George Johnston; granddaughter, Jennifer Hamilton; son, Scott Johnston; son, Barry Johnston and son-in-law, George Abel. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Marsh, Penny Abel and Susan Welsh; sons, Terry Johnston, Jim Johnston (Delena), Gordon Johnston (Marianne), Lance Johnston (Debra) and daughters-in-law, Linda Johnston Deering, Anita Johnston and Margaret Johnston. We are so thankful for Granny’s caregivers who were Granny’s Angels giving 24/7 care, Susie and Nicki (her daughter and granddaughter) so she could die at home as was her wish. At Granny’s request, no service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Children’s Hospital or STARS.
