The Grief Support Program offers individual, family and group services – all under the umbrella of Alberta Health Services.


All new clients attend an appointment with a counsellor to determine which counselling services would be most helpful. Daytimes and limited evening appointments are available.

The name Hospice Calgary may be somewhat misleading. Although Hospice is an important element of their services, Hospice Calgary offers the most extensive programs for individuals needing counselling, group programs and other support while facing advanced illness or loss of any kind.


Their Promise: “Wherever you access our services, we promise to journey with you, through end-of-life and grief, for as long as you need us. We promise to have the difficult conversations about death, dying and grief, hearing your unique story and responding with compassion.”

Compassionate Friends of Canada

An organization for families who have suffered the death of a child from any cause. Provides contacts to local chapters, articles and information about grieving the loss of a child.

Calgary Police Services offers support for those who are victims of violent crimes.

Other Grief Support

There are several religious organizations that offer support during and after times of significant loss. Some communities also have support for those suffering a loss. Talk to Pierson’s Family Follow Up specialist, your Clergyperson or a community resource person.
