On October 4, 2019, a great woman graduated from this mortal existence at 68 years of age onto the higher life. She will be forever remembered by her children: Uinta (Dean) Tipton, Ouray (Janelle) Crowfoot, Denali (Tenniel) Clark, Dawnena (Guy) Clark, and Joseph (Heidi) Clark; 15 grandchildren; siblings Mario (Charlotte), Fritzi (Wally), Bert (Lydia), Strater (Ellen), Deanna, Deb (Lorraine), Troy, Becky (Larry), Thomas; and a myriad of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends, and relatives. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Frances; and sister Carrie.

Amelia was a strong woman of faith who instilled in her children a good work ethic and belief in God. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, through her strong testimony, she devoted many years of service and leadership in the capacities of teaching, leading, guiding, and ministering. She loved the temple and served in over 100 temples worldwide.

She was also a strong advocate of education and encouraged everyone to pursue higher education. She started as a math and science teacher and eventually became the President of Old Sun Community College. She was heavily involved in American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), the World Indigenous Peoples Conference of Education (WIPCE), and Canadian Aboriginal Science & Technology Society (CASTS). Through her passion for education and service she helped countless numbers of people and communities pursue and receive higher education worldwide.

As a member of Siksika, Saulteaux, and Lumbee Communities, she had a deep background in the knowledge and traditions of these Native cultures. She was fluent in the Blackfoot language and was a former member of the Prairie Chicken Society (Kiitokiiks). Her native name was Sisoyaki. She was the granddaughter of Joe and Maggie Crowfoot and the great-great granddaughter of Chief Crowfoot.

She will live on through each of us as we carry on her legacy and spirit. She was a beacon of light to each of us and now she is at peace.
